SSH password as a command-line parameter?

Ok, I ended up going for this option. Thanks for the help. Now my backup 
command looks like this:

ssh odf-backup > sql-backup-`date --iso-8601`.gz

Where 'odf-backup' is an appropriately configured host in ~/.ssh/config
