Change login: prompt

I'm trying to change the login prompt so that it displays the full 
domain name before it. That is, what I currently have this this:

hostname login:

What I want it this:

hostname.domainname login:

I've looked primarily into getty (but also into init, inittab, issue) 
and have been unable to find a solution to this problem.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to where I might find the 
information to change such a thing?
