Creating /home partition

The way I'd do it:
After backing-up and copying the data, I would move the old directory out of the
way (while in single-user runlevel):

   mv /home /home.old
   mkdir /home

Edit fstab, mount the new partition, change back to runlevel 2, log in, use it
for a while, then when you're happy delete /home.old
