5.10->6.06 resume problems

Dell Inspiron 6000, under 5.10 suspend/resume worked perfectly with
the command

        echo -n 'mem' > /sys/power/state

The Gnome menu corresponding to suspend never worked, but I didn't
care.

Anyway, after upgrading to 6.06 suspend seems to work, but when I
resume the screen remains blank. I can ssh in but cannot open any
files.

Same behavior if I suspend from the Gnome quit menu.

I see a recent thread on hibernation asking for /var/log/acpid, so
I've reproduced that below, though I don't know what it means. Any
hints on how to debug this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
