Unable to get dri enabled

Hi again, it seems that somewhere during my crusade here I have forgotten a
step. I seem to recall that I went as straightforward as I said, but as this
thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=185033 suggests, I replaced
the file libGL.so.1.2 with an older one. Adam Conrad said in discussion of
my filed bug
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.15/+bug/49900
that it is probably what is causing my situation.

I will try to narrow down the possibilities and re-trace my steps once more.
Hopefully we'll find some solution soon. As I mentioned in the previous
post, sorry if I cause even more confusion. :)
