OK, I thought about this a little bit. Here is what I would do:
Create your own sources.list with just the Debian Unstable repository in it.
run the following commands:
apt-get -c ~/sources.list update
apt-get -c ~/sources.list install gphoto2
This should resolve all the dependencies for the newest version of gphoto2
and install them for you.
As long as that version works for you, you need never refer to your personal
sources.list file again.
