You can have as many as you want up to a certain ridiculous limit 
(which I forget for now). the problem of course is that you run out 
of keystrokes to engage them :-)

wget is awesome. To download a URL, you enter 'wget <URL>'
If it gets interrupted, you enter wget -c <URL> and it carries on from 
where you left off. There are tons of other options, all in the man 
page
