What version of Ubuntu are you using ?

You can try opening the program from the command line and to watch for
error messages : open a terminal, and at the prompt type :
"gnome-app-install", and show us all the messages you get... maybe we
can figure it out from there, and if not, you can use this information
to file a bug report (in Malone) about the crash...
