Dapper install problem - hangs during install

I had similar problems, but only with the amd64 alternative cd. I then
tried the desktop cd and installation with this installer worked fine.
The machine did not hang during the install but after 'the hang' I had
some zombie processes and the installer never continued.

(I've got an asus a8n-sli board though).
