Ubuntu kernel patches

I've been trying to work around bug #36014, since it makes my laptop 
very slow and is apparently not considered important. One person noted 
that the problem only started on the 386 kernel with version 21 of 
Ubuntu's patches. However, I can't find out how to get earlier versions 
of the kernel packages, or even the patches themselves. Surely these are 
kept somewhere?

If I could get the specific versions where this problem started, I might 
be able to figure out what change caused the problem. Does anyone know 
where these might be kept?
