Cursor is broken in Thunderbird.

Hello,

After upgrading to Dapper Thunderbird started having problems with the
cursor (maybe it's a miss configuration). When I hit the up arrow key
the cursor doesn't go directly up like it should, but it goes to the
beginning of the like. This is incredibly annoying. I have to press the
arrow keys 30 times for something that should be done with 1 key press.
Or I have to use the mouse every few steps which is just as annoying.

Let me give an example. Take the following paragraph:

"The European Union is a supranational organization[line wrap]
of 25 countries in the European continent."

Put the cursor after "Union". If I press "down" I'd expect to have the
cursor just before "the", but instead it goes to the start of the line
(just before "of"). More annoyingly, if I press "up" again, instead of
going back to where it was (after "Union") it stays at the beginning of
the line (Before "The").

Does anyone know why this happens and how I can fix it? Is there a way
I can return to the old Thunderbird? The old one was more stable and
didn't have this bug.
