Printer down after upgrade

I've upgraded to Dapper, and it appears I've lost my ability to print.
My printer is a USB Epson C66 that was running through CUPS. I believe
the whole USB system is down as I can't load a a memory card from my
camera on my card reader. As I said in another post, Sound is also down.

Could someone point me in some directions to go. Ideally, I'll let the
system redetect things and go - but I'm not above manual configurations
where I can. I have no idea where to start on recovery, though.
