Got Ralink rt61 cand working but not with WEP

I have got my rt61 wireless card working and put instructions on the
wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Rt61WirelessCardsHowTo).  So far so good.

Think is what ever I do I cant get WEP to work.  I am doing this by
putting everything in the rt61sta.dat file.  The first question is
should the key have : removed, i.e. is it
4d:3c:0e:b2:e3:3d:45:7a:0a:57:b6:de:1d or 4d3c0eb2e33d457a0a57b6de1d
(obviously this is not my actual key).
