Hi Matt,

I ran into this a while ago and it was a problem w/ dpkg that only newer
kernels revealed.  The solution was to do an 'echo "" >
/var/lib/dpkg/available' so there's at least one line in that file (it just
can't be empty).  Then do the 'apt-get update' like normal and it should
work.
