Sound in dapper - anyone having problems?

I've not been able to get sound to work on either of two Dapper
machines.   The machines are a Dell Optiplex GX620 desktop and a
Toshiba Tecra 8000 laptop.  If anyone has either of these machines and
has met with success with getting sound working, please share.  I'd
like to actually hear the video with Nelson Mandela. :-)
