Ok.. I followed all the steps in that wiki.. I got a message kernel panic.

So created initrd but now I get the same errors.. Fatal error in 
modprobe... Same as before..

Something went wrong in the initrd .. I did`nt understand that... Where 
does my new initrd go.

My current is 2.6.8 and new one is 2.6.16.18

Help on this.. please tell the initrd step as I have only the old command
mkinitrd
