Guys, to clarify once and for all.

These guides are available in HTML and PDF form from the documentation
website at http://help.ubuntu.com

The PDFs on that website work fine in evince and any other pdf reader.

The PDFs you have downloaded from lulu.com are generated with embedded
fonts for printing purposes, and as a result of a bug in
evince/poppler/cairo, do not display properly on Ubuntu. You're not
intended to use these ones for on-screen use, they are purely for
printing purposes.

I will consider removing the option of downloading the PDFs from lulu so
that this confusion doesn't continue.
