Xorg memory leak

Hello,
I had a similar problem with extensive memory usage by xorg after
upgrading to dapper. In my case, however, the problem was quickly
solved by switching to a different video driver.
On ubuntu breezy, i had trouble getting the ATI driver to work with my
Radeon X700 card, so i switched to vesa (it's totally sufficient for
me). Using vesa on dapper, however, xorg was occupying at least 60 % of
the cpu. Well, ATI still wouldn't work (i didn't try too hard, don't
know if it is supported by now), so i switched to fglrx just to see if
that helps.
After 10 hours of uptime, xorg would require less than 60 MB of virtual
mem and less than 30 MB of resident mem, while CPU usage was less than 4
%.
So, now I'm running gnome and xorg 7.0 on ubuntu 6.06 (laptop with
Pentium M 1.73 GHz and 1 GB RAM).
Just a little bit of experience from my side ;)
