Dear Sebastian,
You're welcome. I don't mean to come down hard on you or any other
potential DocBook users! I just want to clarify that DocBook isn't a
format, per se, it's a XML markup language that enforces a particular
structure. The analogous situation is converting a PDF to Microsoft
Word. You can do that, but that doesn't give you a Word document with a
particular set of styles. Similarly, you can convert PDF to XML, but
that doesn't give you DocBook XML.
If you want to convert an arbitrary, non-DocBook document to DocBook,
you have to convert it to text and then insert the XML tags. Some tool
out there may well be able to give you a "first pass", but I am certain
that you'd then have to clean it up by hand.
