Dapper fonts antialiasing

I just upgraded breezy to dapper, and nvidia-glx package was not
installed, so Xorg didn't start saying that 'nvidia' is unknown driver.
I apt-get installed nvidia-glx, and Xserver works fine now. The problem
are the fonts. I seem to no longer have antialiasing, at least not
trough the whole system.

In breezy, I have set up my sistem to use subpixel smoothing. When I
took the screenshot and enlarge it a lot (say, 800%), I could see that
the edges of the font were not grayscaled, but multicolored. The same is
on my laptop.

Now, on dapper (I upgraded only my desktop PC, laptop is stil breezy),
antialiasing is only grayscale, no matter same font settings. Even more,
Xchat fonts are not antialiased at all!

I provided screenshots of my desktop xchat and evolution screens, as
well as laptop xchat and evolution settings. Both xchats use Monospace
9pt fonts. On my desktop I have Nvidia GF4MX440 with nvidia driver, and
LG Flatron L1915S monitor running on 1280x1024. Laptop is Ibm ThinkPad
R52 with Ati Mobility X300, with ati driver (the results are the same
then I use fglrx driver, just with fglrx I can't suspend my laptop,
therefore I use ati), and resolution is 1400x1050.

Here are the screenshots:

Laptop is on Breezy, and Desktop is on Dapper.

What does control antialiasing of fonts? Maybe some packages were not
installed, or something, and I didn't notice that during apt-get
dist-upgrade?
