Nothing.  It'll just pick up downloading stuff next time you're
connected and tell it again to dist-upgrade.  

I think the main reason to do it from CD is speed..

Lines don't go to Australia though, lines mostly go to the USA first.  I
mostly pick US based sites to download anything.  

Being geographically closest to something matters none..  Try the
"Network Tools' screen from Administration and 'traceroute' to some
sites to see where you really are in terms of internet hops.

It used to be that when I went from a site within Thailand to another
site within Thailand but on a different ISP, it would go through the USA
and back.  It really can be that crazy.  I mostly don't trust websites
that say "Oh it looks like you're in Asia, here's a mirror in Taiwan"..
