That implies you're specifying an invalid modeline.

That would _definitely_ be invalid - vrefresh is always going to be 60Hz

Right - you don't actually have those modes. They're not "built-in" and you
don't have a "Modeline" in the xorg.conf Monitor section.

OK, mine (wide screen) is 330x210, so you would appear to have a wide screen
(16:10) and the 1920x1200 or 1440x900 modes might be valid (if you give it
the appropriate modeline).

kdm.log doesn't generally have much, now. All the interesting stuff is in
Xorg.*.log.
