Tvtime question regarding picture settings

Tvtime works extremely well with Ubuntu Dapper - congratulations to the 
developers.  I use the Hauppage USB2 tuner with my Thinkpad T21 and picture 
quality is very good on my aging screen.  I have a minor annoyance.  I am 
unable to change the Contrast and Saturation using on-screen controls. I can 
however go to the Tvtime configuration file and change them from there.  I 
have checked configuration file ownership (user), permissions, and 
configuration file placement (In /etc and/or $home) with no effect. Goggle 
searches, WIKI, and V4lin.org have been educational but otherwise fruitless. 
Re-installing has no impact as well.  I'm out of ideas.  Any suggestions 
anyone?  Certainly not an important problem - just a minor annoyance since 
Contrast and Hue are seldom adjusted.
