If you are using WEP try turning that off first, till you get the 
network up. Have you configured your network interface under the 
networking tab ? I prefer static for security reasons.


Yes I have turned off wireless security on my router.
   
  I appears as though the channel that my adapter is using changes every time I pole it.
   
  How do I change this? iwconfig does not allow me to make changes.
