Using a ISO file to create a virtual CD-ROM Drive

OK, here's a supplementary question: Is it possible to set the system
op to boot from an ISO in a virtual CD-ROM drive?

The reason I ask is that there's a live distro I'd like to try
out, but I don't currently have a CD-ROM drive ...
