Xine refuses to play some ogg files

I encoded my .ogg files years ago.  file outputs this:



Ogg data, Vorbis audio, stereo, 44100 Hz, ~0 bps, created by:
Xiphophorus libVorbis I (1.0 beta 1 or beta 2)



'These files do NOT play in xine or amarok'
(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1315871#post1315871).  But
they do play in xmms, windows etc.
