Mail Server Query

Does the mail server require a direct internet access or can I run it
through a proxy server. The reason why I am asking this is the windows
software which I was running previously required a direct access.
Regards
Vinayak

Yes, I am currently running a mail server on Ubuntu with
postfix and I highly recommend it. We currently handle some
30,000 messages per day on an old P4 1.8. The only problem
we have with it is when our mailing list software tries to
send out 3,000 messages at the same time. When we run it on
the real server, which is a dual Athlon MP 1600 with a gig
of ram, we have no problems at all.

Hi Scott,
what mailing list software do you use?
