Ubuntu Dapper (6.06) Install fails on cdrom open, kernel panic -- please help

Nope.
I suppose there could be ways, but I'm not so fussed about it all.
I'd have to discard the floppy drive (very little use indeed) and the 
zip drive (iOmega, totally useless and already disconnected), then move 
my HDDs up. I have other concerns for now: getting the network card & 
sound card to be recognised by ubuntu.
