I always wonder why and how a person who has just changed everything
on his computer by installing a new operating system and application
suite pretends that everything be
a) same as it was before
b) easy to understand

I mean, they've just changed everything in the computer. Everything
but the bare metal. And yet, they don't ever think of looking for the
documentation (the help system provided with the OS, nevermind
google). They have downloaded or are looking for a full OS of which
they know the name, but don't know what the website might be that
distributes it ("where do I find mandriva linux?" Where do I download
SuSE?" etc). And they pretend that everything should be just as they
want to.

This obviously doesn't apply to every newbie, but I've seen the
symptoms _so_ many times...

I really get the Microsoft hives in those moments. The way they've
degraded the people's opinion of a computer is nothing short of
embarrassing.
