What Computer to Buy?

Pay careful attention to the MB and chipset if you're going to use
6.06 LTS. Ididn't, and I have an extremely fast unit (AMD64 and 1G
memory, but 6.06 LTS doesn't support my sound chip (and not even an
older off the self sound card!), and I doubt that it ever will. Only
the 2.6.17.4 and later kernels offer any hope for me, so I'll need to
go through the pain of rolling my own kernel.
