Xorg memory leak

I had this problem when using Ubuntu breezy (xorg growed to some 4xx Mb
of my 1Gb total),
but I upgraded to dapper today and look:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
4299 root 15 0 78016 48m 11m S 3.7 4.8 6:43.77 Xorg
Only 48m!
For me this is a factor 10 improvement. I also think I have a much more
responsive desktop (Gnome, with Brushed theme).
I must also congratulate Ubuntu (or Debian) for the nearly painless
upgrade procedure.
The only thing that is not working anymore is my sound-card. For some
reason the proper module was not loaded after the
upgrade reboot.
After loading the module and editing /etc/modules, that was fixed.
But the mixer settings are not read in at reboot, (or they fail) so I
will have to fix that also.
It appears there have been some changes in that area which have
interfered with my
setup.
Happy ubunting,
Indra Polak
