Some of the software that can be installed with Automatix is not legal
in many jurisdictions. See

In addition, Automatix has earned itself a bad reputation because it did
hazardous things to the package management, which were prone to cause
problems when upgrading to the next release.

Easyubuntu has similar goals and is a better piece of software.
