Sorry, but no. I'm sure you're right that the problem can be resolved in
userspace - but clearly if you get the behaviour you want with an Ubuntu
kernel and not with a vanilla kernel, then Ubuntu devs have already fixed
it - in the kernel. I can understand them not wanting to redo the
solution.
