No, I did it the Ubuntu way (Synaptic, then sudo nvidia-glx-config enable.

The parameter is necessary because of a bug in my laptop LCD screen :

If anyone has a better idea of what the problem could be, or of a way to 
be sure the parameters are read earlier in the boot process, I'll be 
happy to know about it (then I could update the bug description, since 
the fix isn't working very well any more)
