Thanks for the tip, Tony. I just switched from Totem to MPlayer in the defaults.list and after rebooting it works great. Ubuntu is so much better now than last time I tried it (Hoary). No crashes and everything works except the out of sync problem with flashplayer and the fact that there is no shockwave player. -- beamo
