Jim Gettys, working with the MIT media lab on this project, says they 
hope the research that's going into shrinking and hardening software 
will benefit all users of free software. The first roll-out will be 
systems specifically designed for children, looking bright and colorful. 
But the same ideas will certainly be applied to general-purpose systems 
later.
