problem with postfix/mailman

[use_real_email_ulist at ohiggins.ubuntu.com]

i'm currently running postfix with mailman to use mailing lists, and
whenever i attempt to send an e-mail to the mailing list the following
error occurs:



(delivery temporarily suspended: connect to
local.domain.blah[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]: Connection timed out)



where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the outside ip address.  i'm not sure why it's
attempting to use the outside ip address as opposed to the network ip
address.
