sbackup is available in the Ubuntu Universe repository:

$ apt-cache show sbackup | grep Filename
Filename: pool/universe/s/sbackup/sbackup_0.9-1_all.deb

After installing it, you should find two menu entries for it under System -
Administration labelled "Simple Backup Config " and "Simple Backup Restore"

You might also want to look at  "unison" (with "unison-gtk", which is a
graphical interface for the unison tool).
