Ubuntu a poor choice for servers

Well, sorry if the subject seems troll-ish, but I thought it would
probably get the attention of someone who counts.  I really want to
use Ubuntu, but as of now, I'm installing Fedora...

Dapper (and Breezy for that matter) installation doesn't support LVM
well; it's almost as though it was untested.  Try to set up a system
with LVM from any of the different installation discs, and you'll see
what I mean.

Dapper installation doesn't support LVM over software raid *at all*,
even though it purports to.  This was certainly untested.

Dapper installation supports LVM over FakeRaid *even less*.  I know
nobody claims it's supported, except maybe that
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FakeRaidHowto gives the impression
that it might work.

Even with an existing filesystem set up by the Fedora installer,
installing in these configurations is impossible.

LVM and RAID should be considered a minimal requirement for any server
system -- maybe _any_ system that's expected to have a long lifetime.

http://www.ubuntu.com/server makes it sound like ubuntu should be a
solid server platform, but I can't even get started.  IMO this has to be
remedied if Ubuntu is going to be taken seriously as anything other
than a hobbyist/consumer platform.
