Uh? It installed with no problems whatsoever when I installed it
using gnome-app-install. How do I know, if the installation was
"flawless"?

Install the TabMix+ extension. It offers this "Session" support. There
are also other extensions which offer this. So, that's nothing which is
special to Opera.
