I believe you created it yourself when doing the commands I proposed . 
Please try $ ls -l /usr/lib/vmware-player/lib/libpng12.so.0/ to see when 
it was created and if it is a link.

I tried with vmware.com file . I got the libpng12.so.0 error too but the
