I think you are misleading "free distribution" and "GPL only 
distribution". Sure there are some non GPL software on Ubuntu but did 
that mean that Ubuntu is not free ?

But I think you're right on one point. We shouldn't include non open 
source software in the kernel. doing so, we can't be sure of the 
security and the stability of our distro.
