Oh. In this case, "service status smb" wouldn't have worked either :)

So no support for "status".

You'll have to use the plain smbstatus tool then. On Gentoo, it's
in /usr/bin. I've got no clue, where it is on Ubuntu - I'd suspect
in /usr/bin as well.
