The site Chris suggested lets you remove a list of packages that get
installed when you install the kubuntu and xubuntu meta-packages,
that's probably your best option now. However, for future knowledge,
if you use aptitude to install a meta-package like kubuntu-desktop,
'sudo aptitude install kubuntu-desktop', when you remove it using
aptitude, 'sudo aptitude remove kubuntu-desktop', it will also remove
any dependencies that got pulled in when kubuntu-desktop was
installed.
