	Hmmm... Create meta-packages, like the "kubuntu-desktop" or 
"xubuntu-desktop"? Install Ubuntu, get on the network, and just select 
the "desktop-publishing" package from Synaptic, and away you go... It'll 
add what you need, and strip out what you don't...
