I'd fix this first. As long as not all packages are correctly installed,
there is not much use debugging sound and stuff: e.g., libarts, the
sound library of KDE is not even installed according to your apt-get
output.

Did you follow the instructions in the upgrade notes, especially
regarding installing the metapackage for your ubuntu flavor (one of
ubuntu-desktop, kubuntu-desktop, etc.) before doing an upgrade?

Also pay attention to the section Troubleshooting at the bottom of the
page.

If you have already followed these instructions, I'd say try apt-get -f
install as given in Troubleshooting. Otherwise, first do what the
instructions say. Ask if anything is unclear
