Should KDE programs be shown in Ubuntu Gnome menu?

You may have one, but it won't appear until there's at least one entry under 
it. Start Alacarte (for example right-click on the menu bar on "Anwendungen" 
and select "Menüs bearbeiten"). Chances are that you'll see it there.

BTW: After I installed KNode the corresponding menu entry was added to 
the "Internet" menu - where it belongs. But I don't remeber if I had to check 
the box besides it in Alacarte to make it actually show up or not.
