Note: Journaling filesystems are not faster because they are journaling.
The reason why ReiserFS is faster has nothing to do with the journal
part. Indeed, a journal makes the system *slower*. But you never hear
about that because in practise journaled filesystems are advanced, so
they have other improvements that more than compensate for the speed
penalty of the journal.
