I solved the issue by giving root a password so that I could use real su
when the clock goes berserk. Why sudo completely refuses to run when
the clock has moved is beyond me. Is it some attempt at a security
measure? Shouldn't it them just ask for the password? A radical shift
in clock is a good reason to invalidate the grace period where no
password is asked for, but to completely refuse to run is silly.

Just reboot and run "sudo passwd root", then you'll be able to later get
a root prompt by typing 'su -m' and giving the root password.
