Russ (and others),
I don't normally do this, but I'm big enough to admit when I was wrong. No
concessions, no "buts" - my response to a perfectly valid Ubuntu-newbie
question was totally off-base. Please accept my unreserved apology.
Lack of sleep and dealing with a completely unnecessary fsck up at work
really pushed my patience beyond it's limits - none of that was your fault
Russ, but you copped it, sorry. You got the vitriol I had built up between
midnight and 6am that was reserved for the a$$hole in the office who
fatally broke very important production system. Free advice people - if
you don't know what you're doing on someone else's system, then for the
love of all that's good DON'T touch it! :P There will be an out-of-work
contractor tomorrow who didn't fathom this most basic principle.
Russ - don't let my poor behaviour put you off Ubuntu. People here are
generally friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. My response was unfair on
you, and totally inappropriate for a public forum. I was an ass - period.
Sincerest Regards,
James
